World and Continental Championships
World championships are the pinnacle of any sport, and Beach Ultimate is no exception. The first BULA World Championships (for National Teams) took place in 2004 in Portugal. Followed by Brazil (2007), Italy (2011), and Dubai (2015). The fifth WFDF World Championships of Beach Ultimate, in association with BULA, took place in Royan, France on June 18-24 2017. With 120 teams from 39 countries, it was an overwhelming success. Fans from all over the world followed the event live online with videos, live scoring, and fan interaction using hashtags. This was an event no one wanted to miss.
The 2019 WFDF European Beach Ultimate Championships, in association with BULA (EBUC2019), took place 6-11 May 2019 in Portimao, Portugal, whereas the 2019 WFDF Asia Oceanic Beach Ultimate Championships, in association with BULA, took place 13-16 June 2019 in Shirahama, Japan (AOBUC2019).
The next World Championships for national teams will take place in October 2023 in LA. This is a WFDF event without BULA’s participation.
However, that hasn’t stopped BULA.
In 2018 BULA organized the first European Beach Ultimate Club Championships (EBUCC) in Castelldefels (Spain). Another first in the long history of BULA. In 2022 the EBUCC took place in Portimao again, and EBUCC 2023 will take place in Royan, France in June 2023.
In the meantime, this has started work on the launch of the 1st World Beach Ultimate Club Championships. This historic event will be held from 14-19 Oct 2024 in Portimao, Portugal. Read all about it: www.wbucc.org
